FIND A HIDING SPACE FROM THE WORLD - SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER

I'm sure I'm not the first person to tell you that alone time is NECESSARY! A lot of us will make the excuse that we don't have time for alone time now because of our partners, children, profession, domestic duties etc. but we all can find some time in solitude to allow peace and clarity of mind. Before I tell you why this is important let me give you some suggestions of everyday activities we do or participate in that can be counted as "alone time:"

  • Our shower time
  • Our time getting dressed for the day
  • Car rides alone to work after you drop the kids off
  • Cooking dinner with no one else present in the kitchen
  • Spending 10 minutes in the sauna at the gym (one of my favorites btw)

It's important to note that during these times, for it to be considered alone time, there needs to be QUIET! That means no music playing, no partner talking to you about bills, no motivational podcast etc.

JUST YOU.. ALONE.. WITH GOD!

Spending time alone in a quiet space allows God entry into your mind and your spirit. When we're so caught up with business, being stimulated, distractions, the world etc. it's hard for God to capture our attention. Let's think about it like this, when was the last time a million dollar plan popped up in your head while you were helping the kids with multiplication? Somebody raise your hand and say "NEVER."

However, during those showers where the lights are a little more dim than the rest of the house, in that quiet space as the water rolls down your back, BOOM, there's your next mega million dollar deal that's going to create generational wealth for your entire family!

God just needs our attention sometimes. He wants to speak and pour into us to show us how poverty and depression doesn't have to be our portion, but we have to give him some space and time to work with. Let's stop making excuses as to why we can do this or that for ourselves and God. If you really want to live your best life, you would start quieting your space to allow God to connect with you and pour into you.

I challenge you to turn the music off, give your kids to your partner so you can go to the gym, seperate yourself during lunch at work and meditate on God. Let him pour into you, let him refresh you, let him make you a millionaire, and let him take you off those anxiety pills. I know some of us may not be familiar with God or the Bible but speaking as someone who knows God for myself, he is very real! Give him a chance if you haven't already, and is a supporting scripture to help you with your journey in finding quiet time.

“The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. It is good for a man to bear the yoke while he is young. Let him sit alone in silence, for the Lord has laid it on him.” - Lamentations 3:25-28
